@Nadine: Hi Nadine. I usually ask to take a portrait of someone - even if we don't speak the same language in which case I would point at the camera and otherwise non-verbally ask. I also try to talk to them for a few minutes to get a bit of their story. I don't pose or direct them or stage the photograph in any way, and I like to use only available light - no flash, reflectors, etc. Thanks for your interest.
